Get new teeth that look as natural and work as well as your originals. Whether you need to replace a single damaged tooth or an entire arch of teeth, dental implants can completely renew your smile, often in a same-day procedure.
Plenty of practitioners in Kentucky offer dental implants, but experience matters in the results you can expect. There is a world of difference between treatment by a doctor who attended a weekend course and a specialist with years of training and practice in placing dental implants. There’s also a difference in the support and compassion that individual practices offer.
That’s why patients rely on Dr. Clagett.
Our Approach to Your Care
Dr. Clagett is a board-certified periodontal specialist and an expert in dental implantology. Outside of private practice, he is a leader in regional and national periodontal organizations, and he has spoken extensively to professional audiences on topics related to oral surgery.
Great credentials are necessary. What’s just as important, however, is what you can expect in his care.
Dr. Clagett sees it as his role to give patients the best treatment and the most supportive experience possible. He speaks plainly about what he sees during his examinations, and he helps his patients understand their options with dental implants.
Dr. Clagett doesn’t lecture or blame patients about the condition of their teeth. He never pressures those in his care to choose to have a procedure. Instead, he is focused on giving Kentucky patients the information that they need to make decisions that are right for them.
What to Expect in Your Consultation
We want you to be as comfortable as possible throughout your experience with our practice. So, you’ll get a tour of our office, meet the staff that will be assisting you, and learn about the technology we use to treat Kentucky patients.
You’ll also have extensive time to meet with Dr. Clagett. During your initial consultation:
- You’ll talk about what you want to achieve with treatment. Care is a collaborative process in our office.
- Dr. Clagett will comprehensively evaluate your teeth and gums to identify issues and to develop possible approaches to treatment, which may include dental implants.
- Our team will take the photographs, scans, and X-rays necessary for developing a clear and accurate model for treatment.
You and Dr. Clagett will go over potential solutions to the problems that you are experiencing. He’ll review the pros and cons of different approaches, explain the typical treatment schedule and costs, and give you plenty of time to ask questions so that you can be comfortable with your decision.
The affordable fee that you will pay for your initial consultation, which covers all of the steps above, will go to local Kentucky charities. Dr. Clagett and our staff are committed to supporting our community, and donating this money demonstrates our dedication to the best possible care — and not to charging high patient fees.
Advanced Technology for Dental Implants
Accurate placement of dental implants gives you several benefits:
- Your treatment will be less invasive. This means you’ll feel more comfortable after your procedure, and the treatment sites will heal more quickly.
- Your outcome should look more natural and attractive. The crown that attaches to the dental implant will be in better alignment with the rest of your teeth, creating a more beautiful smile.
- Your results should be more durable. Placing the implant on a stable platform of bone will give your new tooth a stronger base for chewing and biting.
To give patients these benefits, Dr. Clagett uses guided 3D imaging in every procedure he does with dental implants. In advance of your surgery, Dr. Clagett will practice the procedure in a computer simulation based on the scans he took in your consultation. This refines the accuracy of treatment to one-tenth of a millimeter and one-tenth of a degree.
Dr. Clagett may also use X-Guide™ technology, a system that provides GPS-like navigation during surgery. X-Guide gives him incredible vision into the features of the teeth, bone, and mouth, allowing him to place dental implants in a very precise way. Our practice was the first one in Kentucky and among the first 200 offices in the world to adopt X-Guide for procedures.
Your Treatment with Dental Implants
The approach that Dr. Clagett takes will depend on which teeth he will be restoring, how many teeth, the condition of the underlying bone, and other factors.
Regardless of a person’s needs, Dr. Clagett will do everything he can so that patients always have a complete and aesthetically pleasing smile, even immediately after the procedure. Whether our Kentucky patients have a front tooth to restore or an entire arch of teeth, he can use a variety of solutions to accomplish this, including immediate dental implants, “snap-on smiles,” and provisional restorations.
Replacing Damaged or Missing Teeth
If your tooth is damaged:
- Dr. Clagett will remove the tooth and reconstruct the area to ready it for an implant.
- In many cases, he can place the dental implant and a temporary crown on the same day as the tooth extraction. This will speed up the overall treatment time.
- Six to eight weeks later, a dentist will replace the temporary crown with a permanent one. This will complete the process and give you a new, natural-looking tooth.
The treatment steps are similar if your original tooth is already missing, but Dr. Clagett may take extra measures to ready the site for an implant. This may mean a somewhat longer process, but you can still expect a durable and attractive outcome.
Dental Implants and Dentures
Some patients need to replace most of their existing teeth. Others are already using dentures but are unhappy with the comfort and stability of their appliance. A full arch restoration with dental implants may be the solution in both cases.
Many Kentucky patients are anxious about getting full arch treatment because they are embarrassed about the condition of their teeth and gums. Know that Dr. Clagett isn’t going to judge you or shame you. He’s here to help you get a completely restored smile and the full functionality of your original teeth.
With full arch restoration, dental implants attach to a set of dentures to keep them from shifting while you eat and speak. The implants also help retain bone in the area of missing teeth. There are a few different approaches, including:
- Removable dentures that snap into the dental implants.
- Hybrid dentures that are fixed in place with implants.
- Individual dental implants that replace teeth with new crowns.
Following your initial consultation, Dr. Clagett can advise you about the best approach for your needs, discuss the financial aspects of care, and assist you in making the decision about treatment.
With a full arch restoration, Dr. Clagett typically removes the existing teeth, places the implants, and attaches provisional dentures all in the same day. You can expect to leave our office with a new, complete smile. After 3-4 months, a dentist will replace the provisional dentures with the final set of teeth.
If you are interested in restoring your full dental arch — or if you just want a better-looking smile and are exploring treatment — Dr. Clagett and our whole team welcome you to visit us.
